Oxford Welsh learners group

I’m wondering if some new people may wish to come, or some don’t want to walk to far, maybe a search of Oxford parks would be fun, (or the museum if wet), or cafe’s, or any other suggestions.

Cheers J.P.

Hi Pippa, @carolynh doesn’t access the forum that often so I sent her a text re Sat 16th - unfortunately she can’t make it though. I’ll post a note about the 16th on the Oxford additional meetups thread as well in case there are others who might be interested. Did you have any thoughts, by the way, about where we might go this time?

A quick reminder that the Rhydychen/Oxford group will have it’s second meetup of the year next Tuesday 12th Jan, as usual from 5.30pm downstairs in the Jericho Cafe.

Also, for anyone who might be interested there’ll be another walk+sgwrs next Saturday 16th Jan - further details will be posted later on the Oxford SSiW - additional meetups? thread. As always newcomers from Oxford and visitors from elsewhere welcome.

Just to say that as we’re going to be very thin on the ground this week it seems best to postpone our next meetup until Tuesday the following week, i.e. 23 Feb.

Hi John,

A google search directed me to this conversation. I have recently moved to Oxford from Wales and the switch seems to have given me a fresh desire to learn Welsh (something that I sadly neglected to do whilst at home).

I would very much like to attend your weekly get togethers, although I am concerned that my lack of Welsh may be an issue, even just for the chance to meet some new people here in Oxford. Would it be possible for me to join you one week?

Best wishes,

Lloyd

I’m sure JW will get back to you as soon as he sees your post and there will be no problem with you joining in.
Level of Welsh, not important, we are all trying to go forward.
Might see you on one of our welsh rambles.

Cheers J.P.

You’ll be very welcome to join us - as JP says, no problem about your level of Welsh (where are you with your Welsh at the moment, by the way?). Our next meetup is scheduled for next Tuesday 23 Feb, as usual from 5.30pm downstairs at the Jericho Cafe - there’ll probably be between 2 and 4 of us there. Also some of us are planning to go to the St David’s Day concert on Sat 27 Feb ( http://www.oxfordwelshmvc.org.uk/documents/autumn2015.pdf) and we have another walk to Wytham Wood planned for Sat 5 March if you’d like to join us.

Hi John, thanks for your message.

I will head by the cafe tomorrow from work. Unfortunately I am afraid my Welsh is very basic, I have just started the podcast lessons on the saysomething website, but it will be nice to meet some new people in any case.

I will not be able to make the concert on Saturday, due to being in Barry over the weekend, but the walk on the 5th sounds interesting.

Best,

Lloyd

We’ll try and keep an eye out for you - not sure how many of us will be there tonight as we’re a small group and one or two people have been away but probably at least Carolyn and me

Hi Sandra
We haven’t heard from you for a while and maybe the day or time of our meetups doesn’t really work for you, but we have another meetup tonight, 23 Feb, (as usual from 5.30pm downstairs in the Jericho Cafe) and there’ll be another newcomer there, so do come along if you can make it.

Shwmai John,
Apologies I haven’t been able to make it yet - I am moving house to Frenchay Road in a few weeks, so life is very hectic with renovations/builders etc. Please keep me updated with dates when your meetings /events are are and I will let you know when I can come along.

Hi Sandra
Sorry you weren’t able to make it, but you have my sympathies re moving, renovations etc!

There’s another meetup scheduled for this Tuesday, 22nd March but I won’t be able to make it this time as I’ll be in Cymru for the week, and being the week before Easter, others may be away also.
If you’re planning to be at the meetup it’s best therefore to post a message to this thread just to make sure it’s happening!

Being Easter time there may not be many around and I wouldn’t want to find myself the only one at the Jericho Cafe meetup next Tuesday (29th March) but I’ll certainly be there if anyone else is planning on coming, so do let me know if you’ll be there .
