I would like to

Quisiera hacer algo
Me gustaría hacer algo
I think both these mean “I would like to do something” Are they interchangeable or is there a difference I am missing please?

Yes, pretty much so - first language users will tend to have different patterns about when they use them, but a lot of it is personal preference, so go with whatever comes to mind first…

If I remember correctly, I think it was mentioned somewhere in the audio course that ‘Quisiera’ was used more when speaking about He/She would like…
Rather than I would like…

Is this right?

We’ve tended to use it like that in the course, but you’ll hear plenty of personal preferences out in the real, messy world…
