Is there a rule for when to say MEWN or YN Y for “In the”

For example, when one want to say “in the house” is it MEWN TY or YN Y TY

yes, the rule is, if you’re referring to the definite article (in THE house), you use yn. If you’re not referring to the definite article (in A house), you use mewn. So “in the house” = yn y tŷ, but “in a house” = mewn tŷ.
