Pronunciation of 'ella' and 'ayer'

Hello, I’m Susan and I’m really enjoying learning Spanish.

But I’m confused with how to say double ll as in ella - sometimes it sounds like esha, sometimes like eya. Also ‘ayer’ - sometimes the y sounds like a j. Is this because of different accents in different parts of Spain? Or … ?

Great you’re off to a good start, Susan… :star2:

Yes, this is just an accent thing - the ‘sh’ sound is Gaby’s Argentinean background kicking in - you’ll be understood either way, but if you’re going to be using your Spanish in Spain, you’ll end up tending towards the ‘y’ sound…
