The Saturday at Noon, Zoom!

#21

Sat 23rd at Noon

All welcome - let me know and I’ll send the link! :sunny:

All activities are for fun :sunny: :sunny:

Quick Intro (no stress): My name is… how long have you been learning - north or south - Welsh connection? (Its really useful to practice this each time so it’s like falling off a log :slightly_smiling_face:.)

Topic 1:Bits ‘n’ Pieces

Useful portions of conversations to try! Pick 1 - or more if you want - and tell us about…

  • My family - children? Parents, wider family
  • Where I live - describe the area or the rooms?
  • My job - what do you do/ where/ normally/ now?
  • My hobby / hobbies / fave things to do
  • other topic of your choice

…pick & practice something you can drop in to another conversation - and blow their socks off! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Any questions?

Do you have any questions that have cropped up during the week?

Topic 2: This Week / Next Week

Also a really useful conversation piece - great practice to be able to say:

  • What happened this week?
  • What will happen next week?

Mundane things are great - went into town/ the supermarket, toast for breakfast?..don’t forget the weather! - these things are “the real world” and really useful to be able to discuss or throw into a conversation !

…make it up if you want to practice talking about something specific! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Kids Joke To Finish!

Listen, groan o’r tell one.

  • My family - children? Parents, wider family
  • Where I live - describe the area or the rooms?
  • My job - what do you do/ where/ normally/ now?

Quick Intro (no stress): Whatever you can manage eg. My name is… how long have you been learning - north or south.

If there are bits and pieces about yourself eg see below - that you are confident saying, tack them on!

Gradually grow what you say (practice) every week - build your portfolio! :upside_down_face:

Topic 1: Conversation Pieces About Me :jigsaw:

Pick a portion of conversation you’d like to try! - or practice - and give it a shot!

  • My family1 - your own children? Partner? pets!?
  • My family2 - Parents, brothers/ sisters, wider family
  • Where I was born and where I grew up
  • Where I live - describe place, house, rooms?
  • My job - what do you do/ where/ normally/ now?
  • My hobby / hobbies / fave things to do
  • other topic of your choice

…if you got something sorted - you could add it to your intro - to practice it each time. You could of course gradually expand it, or try a different slant!

Any questions?

Do you have any questions that have cropped up during the week?

Topic 2: This Week / Next Week :jigsaw:

Also a really useful zoom/ ‘bump into someone’ conversation piece - ideas below - pick one or more, or talk about whatever you like…!

  • What happened this week?
  • What will happen next week?
  • How is/ was The weather? (…and next week?)
  • Shopping - local, supermarket, delivery, C+C?!
  • Exercise - walking, running, wild swimming! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Question Ping Pong :ping_pong:

Think of a question you’d like to answer yourself.

When it’s your turn, choose someone who hasn’t had a go yet and ask them your question - they will answer …then ask it you back!

Then it’s their turn.

Use it as a chance to practice your conversational jigsaw pieces, or, something completely different if you prefer :jigsaw:

…some ideas below:

  • who will win the rugby
  • favourite player, place or person
  • favourite type of music or song
  • describe your street, house or flat!
  • What are your hobbies
  • What is your job
  • where have you lived in your life
  • parents - where do they come from
  • brothers and sisters, kids, nephews/ nieces etc
  • how long you’ve been learning
  • why are you learning
  • where you live
  • What is your name
