Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I love the music and am sure this format will help with my still very shaky Welsh. Diolch yn fawr iawn!

Croeso mawr

Not Welsh but Cornish but you can hear one or two words that sound the same as Welsh. They will be performing at Sesiwn Fawr, Dolgellau on 16th July.

LET IT RAIN

Save me, from the pirates of my mind
Don’t let them overcome me, don’t let the darkness blind
Keep me, from the shadows of the night
Where the voices call you onward

Hide me, as the demons gather ‘round
Drag me back to safety, don’t let them take me down
Guide me, be my searchlight, be my crew
Be the hole in the cloud where the sun breaks through

Let it rain, let it rain
I’ve seen the edge, and made it back again
Let it rage, let it pour
I will dance, I’ll be back for more

Catch me, if the down-turn has begun
As autumn turns to winter and I’m sheltered from the sun
Hold me, don’t ever let me go
And keep me safe ‘til springtime

Sorry, not music, but as you’ve mentioned Cornish, I’ll add that I couldn’t resist buying some Cornish beer that I found by chance in a local supermarket recently: It was brewed by the St Austell Brewery
and was called “Korev Cornish Lager”. And on the label it says “Ko-rev - (cor-eff) - traditional Cornish word meaning beer”. And not all that different from “cwrw” of course.

BTW, we had some Kelly’s ice cream today as it was hot. I’m sure many people will know that they advertised in Cornish on TV.(It’s on Youtube). I didn’t notice any Cornish on the packaging though.

One of my favourites too.

Not generally a good thing with ice cream, I wouldn’t have thought.

However, to bring this nicely back on topic:

Fans of Cyw might recognise the singer…

Highlights show from Maes B, really enjoyed it  (even though they didn’t show the performance of one of my favourite bands at the moment Ysgol Sul )

I’ve seen Ysgol Sul a few times recently and they seem to have lost interest. They couldn’t be bothered to turn up on time in Bangor for the IKACHING birthday shindig, and at Crug Mawr, where they were supposed to be headlining, they were seriously under-rehearsed and hadn’t even bothered to arrange a set list beforehand. It was all a bit shambolic. Maybe their performance at Maes B reflected this and as a result was unbroadcastable. Just a guess. :frowning:

I saw some of their Maes B set on the live feed and enjoyed it but i missed the end of it, it was definitely broadcastable but there was hardly anyone watching so maybe it wouldn’t have looked good for the tv? First time i saw them I thought it looked like they couldn’t be bothered but realised it’s their detached shoegaze style and I’ve grown to like it.

I too like the ‘slacker’ attitude, but lately they’ve been taking the Mick somewhat.
I wonder what happens to those hours and hours of unbroadcast sets from Maes B.
A few years ago (Wyddgrug Eisteddfod, I think) Radio Cymru posted up the entire, unabridged sets from both Maes B and Gigs Cymdeithas on their web site for streaming. Maybe there are licensing issues, but if we’re going to pay for the cameras and microphones to be there, don’t we have some kind of right to see/hear the results?

I wonder if this is rock enough for @gruntius ?
By the way, Rhys Mwyn was discussing rock music and playing some stuff from the archives tonight with Dan from the Welsh music archive at the National Library. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07w11th

I did enjoy it, thanks Rob, but, in a word, no. It doesn’t scratch my heavy rock/metal itch. I’ll try to download the podcast on to my tablet to listen later, thanks for the link. :+1:
