I notice Ty Tawe, Swansea are having a folk afternoon/evening this Saturday. Is anyone going?

Incidentally, how much room is there in there? Just thinking if my wife and I get chance to attend, it will be our first visit, so we might need to hide in a corner until we get our confidence

We really enjoyed the similar event in Pontardawe, but didn’t know anyone, so ended up chatting to a couple from our village in English :frowning:

Tŷ Tawe’s about the same size. Slightly bigger, I would think, if the gig is upstairs. Slightly smaller if downstairs.

I’ll be at Tŷ Tawe on Saturday, yep. (And Wednesday and Thursday and Sunday - it’s proper party time there this week!)

Hi @leiafee and @robbruce I really appreciate your encouragement. Sorry I couldn’t make it tonight due to work commitments. I’m sure that its going well though.

The Hwntws were played on Radio Wales tonight. Singing in the extinct Gwentian/Gwenwhysyg (?) dialect. It seemed an easy enough accent to listen to.

extinct makes it sound like there are no records…surely there are dialect records somewhere achan?

Geraint Rhys yn bod Geraint Rhys

As I understand it, a language or dialect becomes extinct at the death of the last native speaker.

OK, I admit it sounds a bit weird, because that would also make Manx extinct, when clearly it isn’t.
