Welsh Placenames - free lecture Thursday 6 May at 5pm!

One of our members (Alison of the Cacen Group) asked me to put this information out to SSIW members:

This may be of interest to some people.

On Thursday 6 May at 5pm our son, Dr James January McCann is giving a talk on Zoom on ‘Pedair blynedd o’r Rhestr o Enwau Lleoedd Hanesyddol’.

It is about the database that he administers, which so far has over 660,000 historic Welsh place names recorded.

There are limited places available, so places have to be booked, but it is free! And it is in Welsh, of course, though the English language Royal Commission website says there will be a simultaneous translation available.

Places for the talk can be booked at the website of the Comisiwn Brenhinol Henebion Cymru www.cbhc.gov.uk or the English language website www.rcahmw.gov.uk. It might be an interesting way to practice listening skills!

Thank you to Alison for bringing it to our attention.
