Sorry no pic for this, but you have just reminded me. A squirrel (Gwiwer) visitor to our street’s gardens has become quite tame. Earlier this week my wife and daughter noticed it on the outside of the kitchen window. It was standing on the sill, with its front paws on the window pane, banging on the glass to get in.
Beefsteak fungus. A few weeks ago & today.
Tafod bustach (ox’s tongue). Ychydig o wythnosau yn ôl a heddiw.
Not dripping ‘blood’ when squeezed yet but give it a few more weeks.
Beautiful picture! I’m struggling with this stoat/weasel identification thing though. This looks like a stoat to me, mainly because it has a ‘stoaty face’ (this is not a scientific term). But I thought that stoats always had a black tip to their tail, which I can’t see in the picture. Do they even have different faces, or have I just made that up? (I always think of a weasel’s face as a bit more pointy).
On another note, a stoat (I’m pretty sure it was a stoat, but you can probably tell I’m not an expert) once came into the garden and did a dance for me, but no-one in my family believes me. The stoat and I know it happened, though.
Oh yes maybe! I hadn’t thought about it @Isata & Google not helping me much. My sister’s view was that it was a “young stoat”. I’ll investigate some more.
Weasel - gwenci or stoat - carlwm???
We’ve just come back from the Isle of Mull where we saw these
Dwrgi/ Otter
We also saw (popped back to mainland as none on the island)
Wiwer goch / Red squirrel
Unless that’s a very tiny doorhandle…
This is a good side-by-side comparison between stoat and weasel:

Oedd heddiw braidd yn dda - today was rather good.
Chwilen gladdu goch a du - sexton beetle. (in a hurry).
Coes wydn seimlyd - Butter cap.
Boletus queletii (dryw geni, ddim yn gwybod enw cymraeg).
Small one cut in half, note the pale flesh immediately turns blue on exposure to air, one way of identifying some bolete species.
Morgrugyn du yr ardd - Black garden ant (under sheet of tin which i replaced).
Thanks for all the great photos arriving here.
Cheers J.P.
My son, @ChrisJones and his wife are on holiday in a cottage on Dartmoor and he has authorised me to share this video of a couple who paid them a visit yesterday. (The video should stream - no need to download)

Very nice! We’ve been having similar “visitors” in our yard lately. It is a bit surprising to drive in the driveway and stop when you see one just ahead on the lawn!
