Fancy some Christmas carols?
Seeing as it’s now December and there’s no running away from Christmas any longer, I thought I’d go all out and offer you some Welsh Carols. So if you fancy learning the Welsh words to some of your favourite Carols, let me know and I’ll make some spoken recordings of the lyrics for you.
Just place your requests here
I would absolutely love that!

Ok, so why don’t I start with an old favourite, Dawel Nos / Silent Night…
Dawel nos, Sanctaidd yw’r nos;
Cwsg a gerdd waun a rhos,
Eto’n effro mae Joseff a Mair,
Faban annwyl ynghwsg yn y gwair,
Cwsg mewn gwynfyd a hedd,
Cwsg mewn gwynfyd a hedd.
Dawel nos, Sanctaidd yw’r nos;
Wele fry seren dlos.
Daw’r bugeiliaid a’r doethion i’r drws,
Faban annwyl, yr wyt Ti mor dlws,
Cwsg mewn gwynfyd a hedd,
Cwsg mewn gwynfyd a hedd.

Consider it done…
I Orwedd Mewn Preseb / Away in a Manger
I orwedd mewn preseb rhoed Crëwr y byd,
nid oedd ar ei gyfer na gwely na chrud;
y sêr oedd yn syllu ar dlws faban Mair
yn cysgu yn dawel ar wely o wair.
A’r gwartheg yn brefu, y baban ddeffroes,
nid ofnodd, cans gwyddai na phrofai un loes.
‘Rwyf, Iesu, ‘n dy garu, O edrych i lawr
a saf wrth fy ngwely nes dyfod y wawr.
Tyrd, Iesu, i’m hymyl, ac aros o hyd
i’m caru a’m gwylio tra bwyf yn y byd;
bendithia blant bychain pob gwlad a phob iaith,
a dwg ni i’th gwmni ar derfyn ein taith.

Thank you Nadolig llawen🎄
Diolch yn fawr iawn. Fy hoff carol
Goodness what weather! I was up for hours in the middle of the night, last night, dealing with a sensitive car alarm and bits of garden and garden fodder being blown all over the place by the gale force winds. So, I’m dreadfully sleep deprived today and definitely not firing on all cylinders.
So I thought it would be appropriate to revive this post…
Here’s a Christmas Word of the Day post from last year…

A happy and healthy 2020 to you all!
Here’s an useful post from the beginning of January last year…
Some of you may have heard about the tradition of Calennig = Kal-len-nig. If not, then here’s an useful Wikipedia link explaining the tradition and it’s origins and another from the National Museum Wales site.
Here’s a lovely little Calennig poem…
I was going to record a sound file for you, but then I found this little video, which is perfect…
Why don’t the dog commands have “wch” on the end? Is it because they can’t argue with our grammar?
Great question Jackie!
An wch on the end (eisteddwch, neidiwch, gorweddwch, arhoswch) would be used when addressing more than one dog, os as a sign of respect to a very important dog with status…
