OK, that would make sense. So Ken isn’t his real Taid, but more like a step-Taid.
And I don’t know who Griff is either! (presumably left the programme before I started watching it).
The fact that Robbie went on holiday with Lowri and Kelvin does suggest they are his parents (or parent and step-parent).

Trouble apparently (according to S4C), so perhaps he’ll be back when other storylines are a bit quiet. I do like it when a soap regurgitates a baddy!

I got the impression from the part in the beginning about Owain’s permission slip for school, that perhaps the sulkiness has to do with feeling ignored by his mother (and maybe his dad, no idea if he’s in the picture. I looked it up on S4C and his dad is Eifion, who I don’t know anything about). Also wondering why he didn’t say anything about Robbie…maybe he’s worried about some sort of retaliation if he does?
Not an expression I’ve ever heard. As an American, can I have a translation, please?

The answer to that one is to say, “It was not me! Honest! I can’t tell you who it was, but I know it wasn’t me! Ask all the others!” But the poor kid was too intimidated to say that. I am sure that Robbie is bad news!

As Cat says, to snitch, and presumably related to that, Welsh has snich, snech or snechyn.
But looking around for alternatives, and origins, etc, I found this:

By about 1700, “snitch” had progressed from meaning “flick to the nose” to serving as slang for the nose itself (“As the … egg … broke on the ‘snitch’ of the Socialist candidate,” 1902), and this was the key development in the evolution of “snitch” as slang for “informer.” The nose has long been used as a symbol of intrusion into others’ business (e.g., a busybody is described as being “nosy”), and the image of a police dog or bloodhound “sniffing out” crime or tracking criminals has been a staple of popular culture for centuries. “Nose,” in fact, has been underworld slang for a spy or informer since the late 18th century (“The first issue of forged notes, it is stated by a nose (an informer), amounted to 500,” 1830). So using “snitch,” already slang for “the nose,” as slang for “an informer” would have been a natural development.
And that reminded me that in UK police dramas (at least at one time, e.g. “The Sweeney”, 1970s), the term “snout” was used (by the police themselves) for a police informer (i.e. detectives would have their regular “snouts” whom they paid modest cash sums to for information. (And of course, “snout” is another term for “nose”).
(and, confusingly, “snout” is also UK prison slang for tobacco).

Another word for ‘nose’ is the Romani nāk (the same word in Hindi/Urdu, I believe) - whence ‘nark’.

Lowri was looking distinctly, er, out for a good time. Careful now Dewi. Kelvin may be small, but has a powerful punch (as Vince once found out…).
Seemed to be another “marking time” episode though, didn’t it? I suppose Wyn is going to keep his mouth shut, until he needs something out of Cathryn or Iolo, and then he will hint at blackmail.
I certainly presumed that! I wouldn’t trust Wyn as far as I could throw him! (A particularly short distance in this case!)
Following on from discussion in Rhydychen - courtesy of the subtitles I noticed Philip making a comment about the ‘atmosphere’ & went back & had a careful listen. Awyrgylch also in metaphorical usage, it seems.

Seems she hasn’t learned any lessons, although will soon be finding out that there is more to running than the clothes and shoes.
Funnily enough, I’ve just been watching an episode from The Sopranos, series 6, in which the troubled young teenage kid of one of the mobsters is dragged from his bed in the middle of the night (with the reluctant consent of his mother), to a “tough love” camp for kids like him, in a distant US state which allows corporal punishment of children. Oh, that’s still legal in England, isn’t it, although soon won’t be in Wales.
Illegal in Scotland. Given the past attitudes of both Kirk and RC Church, it is quite surprising that children have better rights here than rest of UK!
Oh wow! I forgot when the show returned so I missed a few of the earlier episodes. I’m starting with the 26 of September episode. I know that David has passed away in a car crash but I’m confused on the circumstances. Erin is involved somehow? Poor Rhys, he is my favorite character.
Lolo is hooking up with Cathryn?
